CARNALEA RESIDENTIAL HOME, 5-9 LONDON ROAD, FAVERSHAM, KENT
The project addressed issues regarding the existing accommodation and the growing need for quality residential care in Faversham. Changes to the National Minimum Standards brought in by the Department of Health required a decrease in the number of existing shared bedrooms, an increase in the number of single bedrooms and basic en-suite facilities for all bedrooms.
Many features have been incorporated to improve the residents' environment. Doors from the extended LIVING ROOM lead directly into an external courtyard. Raised planters and seating provide sheltered access to fresh air for the residents. We have incorporated a single-storey tile-roofed projecting bay within the courtyard to reduce the scale of the space and to provide visual interest. Planning permission was granted by Swale Borough Council in April 2007. |
